Overview
An internationally active technology-oriented organization headquartered in Japan is seeking a senior legal leader to oversee legal and compliance matters across its business operations.
This role works closely with executive stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, manage legal risk, and ensure effective governance across multiple business units.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance to senior leadership on corporate and commercial matters
- Support organizational decision-making from a legal and risk perspective
- Oversee contract strategy and key documentation frameworks
- Coordinate legal matters across domestic and international stakeholders
- Strengthen internal compliance processes and governance practices
- Manage external counsel relationships as needed
- Contribute to the continued development of the legal function
Requirements
- Significant in-house legal experience within an international business environment
- Strong background in corporate and commercial legal matters
- Experience working with senior internal stakeholders
- Ability to operate independently in a cross-border setting
- Professional legal qualification in Japan and/or another major jurisdiction
- Business-level Japanese and English communication ability
Preferred
- Experience working in a technology-related or innovation-driven organization
- Experience supporting multi-entity corporate structures
