Position: Mid-Level Associate (Bengoshi), Corporate / M&A

Overview:
A leading international law firm in Tokyo is looking to hire a talented Bengoshi (4–6 years PQE) to join its Corporate/M&A practice. The team advises on a broad range of domestic and cross-border transactions, working closely with global offices and top-tier clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on M&A transactions, including cross-border deals
• Conduct legal due diligence and manage data room processes
• Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents, including share purchase agreements (SPAs) and related agreements
• Support deal execution and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
• Work closely with international teams on multi-jurisdictional matters

Requirements:

• Qualified in Japan (Bengoshi), with 4–6 years of post-qualification experience
• Strong experience in corporate/M&A transactions
• Hands-on experience with due diligence and drafting transaction documents (e.g., SPAs)
• Business-level English proficiency (written and spoken)
• Experience at a top-tier law firm (domestic or international) preferred
• Private equity experience is advantageous but not required
