About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HR leader to oversee Total Rewards, Talent Management, Leadership Development, and Organizational Development for the Japan business. This role serves as the HR Center of Excellence leader and a strategic second-in-command within the Japan HR organization.
The successful candidate will partner with senior business leaders and HR stakeholders to design and execute people strategies that enhance organizational capability, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee engagement while ensuring strong governance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement Total Rewards strategies, including compensation and benefits programs aligned with business objectives and market competitiveness.
  • Drive talent management initiatives, including succession planning, talent reviews, and leadership pipeline development.
  • Design and execute leadership development and organizational capability-building programs.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and transformation initiatives to support business growth and change.
  • Provide strategic guidance on employee relations, labor relations, and workforce matters.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, internal policies, and governance requirements.
  • Partner closely with business leaders and regional/global HR teams to align local and global people strategies.
  • Manage a team of HR professionals, including leadership of direct reports and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Utilize data and insights to inform workforce decisions, compensation strategies, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • Significant experience in Total Rewards, including Compensation & Benefits strategy and execution.
  • Proven people leadership experience managing managers and/or senior HR professionals.
  • Strong business-level English communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in labor relations and/or union engagement and negotiations.
  • Experience within a regulated industry environment.
